Allissa Spinniken, MOPS Coordinator

I am the wife of a handsome fruit and apple farmer, Aaron. We have two loud and busy bous, Malachai is 3.5 years old and Moses is 18 months. We also have another one on the way due in late February.

I teach pilates at Yoga4 Studio in Lake Leelanau. This is my third year coordinating Leland MOPS but I have been a part of the group for about 4.5 years. I am so very happy and feel very blessed to a wife and mother and care for my wonderful family in such an amazing county! I can’t wait to see what God has in store for this group of wonderful moms! I look forward to being Starry Eyed together and learning to focus on Christ, because we reflect what we focus on.

Natalie Korson, MOMSnext Co-Coordinator
I’m Natalie Korson, MOMSnext leader. I’ve been with Leland MOPS for 6 years now. I have 3 kids:  Kyle (15),  Kayla (13) and Alyssa (9). I’ve been married to Allen for 17 years. Where does the time go!

We live on his parents’ farm in Northport. I work part time as a cashier at the Leland Merc.  For fun, I like nature, photography and scrapbooking.  I just wish I had more time to enjoy those!
I’m looking forward to a great MOMSnext year with my co-leader Kim Gordon.

This is something like my 10th year being a part of MOPS International.  Last year I realized I was a “veteran” mom, so I’m co-coordinating MomsNext this year. Keep moving forward…that is one of my mantras.  I grew up a tomboy and love to play sports, however I am learning to appreciate my girlie side. God has blessed me with 3 daughters and 1 son; Hannah (8), Holly (3), Sarah (3) and Lucas (11 this month). My husband Mike and I celebrated 10 years of marriage this past August, but it feels like 20 after all we’ve been through.
I love God, Christian music, softball, canning, playing cards and staying up late. And I miss gardening. I would take a girls night in, (watching a movie, hanging out) over a girls night out on the town, as I am a introvert who needs quiet time (which I don’t get a lot of).
I’ve learned that I am not perfect and that’s ok and that sometimes life sucks. I’ve learned the importance of friendships and other moms and that Mops helped me know that. I dream of some day having a daycare.
The best mothering advice I can give would be to trust your gut and your mothering instincts. No one knows your child better than you except God. Accept your house will be messy. Oh and dance and sing with your kids…cuz it’s FUN!

Hello Everyone! I am the Publicity Leader again this year and I am excited to bring you the newsletter each month!

I have been married to Ben for 5 years and we have a 3 year old son, Charlie. We are expecting our second child this November!

When I am not busy chasing Charlie around, my interests include:  rollerskating (roller derby!), candle-making, gardening, exploring the outdoors and playing my ukulele. I moved up to Leelanau County 4 years ago and I love it here! There is no other place I would want to raise my family.

Kathy Ostlund, Creative Activities
Hello! I am Kathy, born and raised in Leelanau County, wife and mother of two rambunctious boys: Tommy (6) and Winston (3). In between playing trucks, crayons and playdates I am also a graphic designer and work from home in my downtime (what is that?!) This will be my fourth year being fully involved in MOPS and I thank God everyday that I have found this great group of women that I can relate to, share stories of triumphs and hardships with and depend on when I might need a good laugh (we have many!) or a well deserved cry. There was a time when I felt like such a failure as a mom and that my misbehaving child was forever corrupt…when I finally opened up to my MOPS group, I found that I was not the only one in that boat…what a weight that had been lifted  just knowing that I was not ALONE. I look forward to my Tuesday nights with my MOPS moms and I can’t wait to see some new faces in the crowd this year! This year I am continuing the role of Creative Coordinator. I am so excited about this because as a self-proclaimed Pinterest Addict with no “extra time” I now get to do so many crafts that I’ve pinned – and the best part is I get to share it all with you lovely ladies! Get ready for Starry Eyed year…it’s going to be fabulous!
